It was an absolute honour to be invited to Ballinakill N.S on Wednesday morning to raise their Junior Entrepreneur Programme Flag. Congratulations to all in Ballinakill National School on your fantastic achievements this year and thank you very much for inviting me to be a part of these very special celebrations.
The Junior Entrepreneur Programme (JEP) is an entrepreneurial education programme for primary school pupils. This innovative programme opens the minds of primary school pupils to the joy of entrepreneurship at a time in their lives when they are full of imagination and open to new possibilities.
5th & 6th classes took park in this programme under the guidance of Ms.Cripps and started a very successful business selling customised t-shirts. The children worked very hard form coming up with the idea to writing business plans, designing t shirts, taking orders, collecting money and delivering to customers. It was hugely successful and the children enjoyed a showcase day in Portlaoise where the presented their project and saw projects completed by other schools.
The students were visited by Tony Browne from Property Properly who gave them great advice on running a business. The pupils also received great support and advice from local business woman Helen Gee. Helen also invested some of her own money in the pupils T-shirt business, let’s hope she sees a good return on her investment!!
